Traditions at Hunter Station

November Resident of the Month Joyce BrowningMeet Joyce Browning, our November Resident of the Month! Joyce was born in New Albany, Indiana, which is situated along the Ohio River, opposite Louisville, Kentucky, and has called Southern Indiana her home for her entire life.

Joyce is one of Traditions at Hunter Station’s newer residents, having moved in less than a year ago. “I chose Hunter Station in part due to Kylie Wellborn; she was their Move-In Coordinator at the time. She instantly made me feel connected to the community. I knew I could still have my independence but be super active with a community of people at the same time. I was very involved with the local YMCA before moving, and I wanted to ensure that where I was moving would have interesting things for me to do and be involved in.”

November Resident of the Month Joyce BrowningJoyce, who was a bookkeeper for various companies for about 40 years prior to retiring, has three children and seven grandchildren ranging in age from eighteen to thirty-one. When asked about her grandchildren she smiled and said, “I am always at the ballfield! I greatly enjoy watching my grandkids play sports.” Joyce also loves to read, participate in crafts, play cards and dominoes.

She counts Bingo, Mexican Train dominoes, the monthly Ladies’ Tea parties and the myriad craft opportunities as among her favorite things at Hunter Station.

“My favorite meal is Chef Kim’s Taco Salad, but the kitchen staff would tell you that my all-time favorite thing to order is the Creamed Spinach. Sometimes I get an entire to-go box of just that!”

November Resident of the Month Joyce BrowningWhen we asked Joyce if she had anything else she’d like to share with us, she smiled and said, “I love living here! I like that I can be independent, but still walk across the street to play. My family knows that if I’m not home, I am at the big house doing something fun. The best part is all my new friends at Hunter Station.”

Kylie Wellborn, Activities Director, stated that “Joyce was unanimously chosen to be Resident of the Month by all our directors at Hunter Station. She is so active in our community, welcoming new residents, and she truly loves living at Hunter Station. We are very grateful that she chose our community to be her home!”
