FEATURED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH August 2024
Meet Seth Young, Traditions' Featured Employee of the Month! Seth was born and raised in Memphis, Indiana, a small town of just under 1,000 people located approximately 20 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.
Seth has worked for Traditions at Hunter Station since September 2020, beginning his career at just 16 years old. Through hard work and dedication, he has become one of the leaders in the culinary department.
Hunter Station holds a special place in Seth's heart as his family entrusted Traditions to care for his grandparents during Seth’s employment. His grandfather lived in the Assisted Living neighborhood and passed away about eight months ago while his grandmother resided in our Memory Care neighborhood for most of her stay.
When Seth isn't working, he enjoys spending time with his parents, sister, and beloved pets—he has two dogs, three cats, two sugar gliders (flying squirrels), and a crested gecko. He also loves to unwind by riding his bike, volunteering at his church, and honing his already impressive skills at the Rubik's Cube.
"I love coming to work every day, serving the residents, and being around my coworkers," said Seth. "One of my favorite memories is playing UNO after work with one of the residents who was having a hard time. You could see by the smile on her face that it cheered her up!"
"Every day, the ladies in the dining room ask for Seth to serve them," said Kathy Jones, Hunter Station's Executive Director. "He knows what they want before they even place their order. He puts a little love on everything he brings to their table. Our residents truly view him as one of their family members and feel responsible for his growth as a young man."
Kathy said that Seth exhibits Traditions' Core Values of Important vs. Necessary, Service, Dignity, Socialization, and Choices each day. He goes above and beyond his job duties by giving his time and love through volunteering after hours, spending one-on-one time with residents.
"The culinary experience is very important to our residents and prospects," said Kathy. "Seth makes the dining experience even better. He never has an off day like some of us. Seth treats everyone with respect. You can bet he is giving 100% every day, no matter the task. Should he have a day off, everyone – residents and staff alike – misses him."
